Dash Farm Close Development

Excavations of mediaeval house behind the chapel graveyard at Dash's Farm Close Development.

Updated 2nd February

The remains of what is believed to be a mediaeval house were discovered at the site of Dash's Farm Close Development.

Francis Jacksons of Olney had already built many of the planned 26 houses they intend to build at Dash's Farm Close. The remains on the mediaeval house have now been lost under the foundations of the new houses.

The site has flooded every winter for many years, but the developers believe they can avoid this problem by dredging  and clearing the Willowbrook..
The brook has been dredged alongside the area of the development. The level of the Willowbrook has a tendency to rise quickly under the effect of the rainwater run-off from roads upstream. Even if the dredging succeeds in preventing flooding on the site, the problem is only going to passed to the more restricted areas of the brook downstream.

This is of great importance to all villagers who own property adjoining the Willowbrook (west) downstream of the development, as they are responsible for upkeep of the stream, and the development can only result in higher peak flow at times of heavy rainfall. See Flooding in Weldon>

John Young of Francis Jackson Homes has objected to my comments about the flooding problem on the Dash's Farm Close site - see Dash's Farm Correspondence> for more details.
